Grâce-Hollogne, Belgium and Atlanta, GA – October 25, 2023 – Ampacimon, the leading provider of grid monitoring and analytics solutions for optimal operation of the world’s critical energy infrastructure, today announces the appointment of Neil Chatterjee, former commissioner and chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) of the United States, to the company’s Board of Directors.
“Improving our energy infrastructure and promoting the wider adoption of clean energy is a national imperative,” said Mr. Chatterjee. "As an active advocate for America’s transition to clean energy, I look forward to lending my experience as Ampacimon expands its U.S. footprint. Innovative solutions like those developed by Ampacimon are at the heart of grid readiness as demand increases and clean energy becomes more ubiquitous.”
Mr. Chatterjee currently serves as a senior advisor to the energy regulatory practice of a global law firm in Washington, D.C. Previously he served as FERC chairman from August 2017 to December 2017, and again from October 2018 to November 2020. Throughout these terms, he advanced a groundbreaking bipartisan commission policy statement encouraging power grid operators to incorporate state carbon pricing policies into their markets. He also advocated for landmark energy initiatives including improving power grid reliability and resilience, boosting renewable resources’ ability to compete in regional power markets, and the reduction of carbon emissions. He is known to be a policy reformer who can break down market barriers for the entrance of new innovative solutions, particularly for low-carbon technologies.
“We are honored to welcome Neil to the Board at this critical crossroads of demand for cleaner, more efficient energy and the adoption of technical innovation in the grid,” said Ampacimon board member Frederic Vassort. “There are few people with Neil’s breadth of knowledge about America’s energy landscape. His insights into critical infrastructure issues, the shifting landscape of regulations, energy industry dynamics, and a future of efficient, clean, and safe power will help us meet the needs of utilities and their customers during this pivotal time.”
Prior to his position as FERC chairman, Mr. Chatterjee advised The Office of the Senate Majority Leader where he worked for the passage of major energy legislation. He has also served the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association where he worked in government relations.
Mr. Chatterjee concluded: "Ampacimon’s unique solutions can increase grid capacity by as much as 40%, helping to alleviate the bottleneck to clean energy sources being brought online and improving the reliability and efficiency of our aging electrical infrastructure.”
